Update: FBI Releases Photos of Pine Brook Bank Robber

Authorities looking into possible connection to other area bank robberies.

Montville police, in conjunction with the Morris County Sherrif's office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, are investigating an armed bank robbery that occurred at the Pine Brook Bank of America Monday.

According to a statement released by FBI public affairs officer Special Agent Bryan Travers, a lone male subject robbed an undisclosed sum of money from the bank at approximately 12:29 p.m.

"The subject walked into the bank with a large black gun in his right hand and a white plastic bag in his left hand," he said in the statement. "The subject proceeded to the teller window, put the bag on the counter and told the teller to empty the drawer. The subject took the bag and walked out of the bank and proceeded in an unknown direction."

According to T.J. Crawford, a representative from Bank of America, no injuries were reported as a result of the crime.

"We are cooperating with local law enforcement to aid the investigation," he said.

According to the FBI's BanditTracker Northeast website, authorities are looking for a white male, approximately 30 years old, 5' 10" tall, medium build, who was wearing a black nylon stretch mask over his head and who had glasses underneath. The man was reportedly wearing an unbuttoned, black, button-down shirt with a plain white T-shirt underneath along with black and gray gloves.

According to the website, authorities are looking into a possible connection between this robbery and recent ones in Bloomfield, Paramus, Whitehouse, West Orange and Boonton.

The FBI urges the public to refer to the BanditTracker Northeast website for information on the robbery.

In addition the Morris County prosecutor's office urges anyone who may have been in the area of the bank and witnessed anything suspicious, or anyone who has other information, to contact the Montville Township Police Department at 973-257-4300, the Morris County Prosecutor's Office at 973-285-6200, the Morris County Sheriff's Office Crime Stopper Program at 973-COPCALL, or the FBI at 973-792-3020.

The Morris County Prosecutor's Office Major Crime Unit, the Montville Township Police Department, the Morris County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Section and the Federal Bureau of Investigation responded to the robbery, according to a brief statement from Capt. Jeffrey S. Paul, chief spokesman for Morris County Prosecutor Robert A. Bianchi.
