Pregnant Woman Injured After Car Crashed Into Building

Police said woman accidentally put car into reverse before it went over a curb in Pine Brook.

A pregnant woman was transported to Saint Barnabas Medical Center, in Livingston, Tuesday after police said she crashed her car into the building at 16 Bloomfield Ave.

No serious injuries were reported, according to Capt. Ed Rosellini, but the woman, who is six months pregnant, complained of pain. She was transported to the hospital as a precaution. There were no other passengers in the vehicle and no one else was injured.

Rosellini said the crash occurred around 4 p.m. when the woman found an insect in her vehicle and pulled over in a parking lot on Changebridge Road to get it out. The woman thought she put her vehicle in park but put it in reverse instead.

The woman attempted to stop the vehicle but was unsuccessful. The car went over a curb and into the building across the street. Rosellini said the extent of damage to the building was unknown, although the woman's vehicle was damaged and towed from the scene.

No further information on the woman or her condition was available.
