Gallopo saw the incidents while on a ride-along with Montville police.
He said the occupants of the car were fortunate to escape injury. The tree fell on the car as it was driving near Community Park.

The power line came down and started the fire on Stiles Lane around 4:30 p.m., he said. Police and firefighters stayed at the scene until the situation was under control.
