Police: Woman Stole Cupcake From 7-Eleven

Value of stolen treat was $1.70, police said.

A Pompton Plains woman was arrested on charges of theft Friday after police said she stole a cupcake valued at $1.70 from the 7-Eleven convenience store on Changebridge Road in Pine Brook.

responded to a report of shoplifting at 7-Eleven at 10:20 a.m. where they watched surveillance video of Jenna Matthews, 19, allegedly placing the cupcake package in her right pants pocket. Police said Matthews, who was seen in the video accompanied by a white male, was then was seen paying for other items at the counter, but not the cupcake.

Matthews, a student at the Christine Valmy beauty school, was arrested at Christine Valmy. The male was not arrested.

  • Four individuals were arrested on drug possession charges after Montville police said they were found with 50 grams or less of marijuana in a vehicle on Timber Road Saturday. Kyle Becker, 19, of Montville, Christian Capo, 18, of Towaco, and Christopher Lavenburg, 18, of Montville, all passengers in the vehicle were charged with possession of marijuana while the driver, Kelly Caccavella, 18, of Sussex, was additionally issued a traffic summons for possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle. Police said the vehicle was stopped near Doremus Road and, when speaking to the driver, police allegedly smelled marijuana in the car. After asking the occupants to exit the vehicle, polise said a small bag of marijuana was found on the rear floor of the car. All four were transported to the police station and later released pending court appearances.
  • Adam Aguanno, 26, of Rockaway, was charged with DWI Saturday after police said he was involved in a motor vehicle accident at 240 Route 202. Police said the accident was reported at 5:35 a.m. and an ambulance was transported to the scene, though his injuries are unknown. Police said he was the only person in the vehicle and was transported to St. Clare's Hospital in Denville.
  • Shytavia Pringle, 24, of Brooklyn, NY, was arrested on charges of possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose Saturday after police said she was found to be in possession of a pink-colored stun gun. Police said Pringle was stopped at the intersection of River and Changebridge Roads while driving a Toyota Avalon at about 3:40 a.m. and was found to be in possession of the stun gun. She was transported to the police station and later released.
  • Richard Carney, 46, of Pine Brook, was charged with DWI Saturday after police said he struck a pick up truck with his Chevy Cruise and was reportedly swerving on Route 46 East, according to a caller who reported the incident. Police said Carney's vehicle was stopped and police allegedly immediately noticed an odor of alcoholic beverages on his breath. His vehicle had front-end damage, police said. He was transported to the police station and later released with a date to appear in court.
  • Atluri Vamsidutt, 32, of Montville, was charged with DWI Saturday after police said he was allegedly found to be the driver of a vehicle that was reported as suspicious for being parked on the sidewalk of Brittany Road, blocking pedestrian traffic. He was additionally charged with refusal to submit a breath test. According to police, Vamsidutt, who allegedly displayed signs of intoxication, told police he lived in the home near the sidewalk and that he was just "screwing around." A passenger who was with Vamsidutt was not charged. Vamsidutt was transported to the police station, issued motor vehicle summonses and released.
