Police: Man Drives Into Brick Pillar, Charged With DWI

The following arrest information was supplied by the Montville Township police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Montville Police made two alcohol-related arrests over the past week after a Towaco man struck a brick pillar on the property of a Pine Brook Road residence early Thursday morning and a West Caldwell resident was found asleep at the wheel Sunday night on Bloomfield Avenue, Capt. Ed Rosellini said.

Police responded to an accident involving a car that hit a brick pillar on a property on Pine Brook Road near Green Briar Road Thursday morning at about 12:30 a.m., Rosellini said Monday.

The driver was identified as George Hernandez Jr., 22, of Towaco, and after being given a field sobriety test, was transported back to police headquarters and given a Breathalyzer test, Rosellini said. Hernandez was issued summonses for driving while intoxicated, careless driving, failure to maintain lanes and for a vehicle accident with property damage, Rosellini said.

Officers responded to a report of a person passed out behind the wheel of a car on Bloomfield Avenue near Home Depot Sunday night at about 11 p.m., Rosellini said.

The driver was identified as Theresa Bellina, 42, of West Caldwell. Police administered field sobriety tests and transported Bellina to headquarters, where she refused a Breathalyzer test, Rosellini said. She was issued summonses for driving while intoxicated, for refusal to submit to a breath test and for failure to display documents.
