Police: Man Caught Stealing Used Cooking Oil

Police said oil was stored in box truck.

A 42-year-old Somerset man was charged with theft and criminal mischief on May 9 after said he was caught allegedly attempting to steal used cooking oil from Tiffany's on Route 46.

Akim Brock was arrested on the charges and released with a summons after being transported to the Montville Township police station. Police said a company typically pays Tiffany's to recycle their used cooking oil.

Police responded around 5:30 a.m. and believe Brock was trying to sell the oil. He allegedly had more used cooking oil stored in a box truck he had with him that had a pump attached.

  • Alexander Zaccaro IV, 22, of Fairfield, was charged with possession of marijuana after he was arrested outside The Stuffed Olive last week. Police said they received a report of a suspicious car parked and allegedly observed one of the men outside the vehicle, Zaccaro, throw something on the ground and step on it. Police later determined that marijuana was what was allegedly thrown on the ground and arrested Zaccaro. He was issued a summons and released.
  • Michael Intile, 19, of Towaco, was charged with DWI on Friday after police said he was stopped while driving at the intersection of Old Lane and Bonnieview Lane. Police said he was allegedly driving 38 mph in a 25 mph zone when he was stopped. Because of his age, police said he was charged with underage DWI and issued a summons for speeding.
  • Robert Govelitz, 22, of Fords, NJ, was charged with possession of heroin on Saturday after it was reported that while driving on Route 46, he was swerving in and out of the shoulder near Burlington Coat Factory. When talking to Govelitz, police said they saw a crackpipe in plainview in the vehicle and later found two decks of heroin. He was arrested and issued a summons.
  • Dylan Patel, 19, of Parsippany, was charged with possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) and drug paraphernalia on May 7. Police responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle at the Rachel Gardens apartment complex in Pine Brook and upon approaching the vehicle, allegedly smelled burnt marijuana. Upon further investigation, police said they saw a marijuana grinder in the vehicle. Patel was arrested and issued summonses.
