Montville Man Who Choked Woman Gets 12 Years in Prison

Judge called Sabri Pilinci 'disgusting' and 'despicable,' report says.

A Montville man who pleaded guilty to robbery and criminal restraint was sentenced Tuesday to 12 years in state prison, according to The Record.

Sabri Pilinci, 29, had previously admitted to breaking into a Clifton home in 2009, thinking no one was home, with an accomplice with the intention to burglarize the house to support a heroin addiction, The Record reported. When a female resident of the house awoke, Pilinci allegedly punched her in the face until she started to bleed and choked her until she lost consciousness.

He then fled the home without taking anything, The Record reported.

As part of his sentencing, Pillinci must serve at least 85 percent of the time in prison before being eligible for parole.
