Cops: Montville Man Drove Drunk to Police Station

Police said man allegedly admitted to driving after drinking.

A 56-year-old man was charged with DWI on May 30 after police said he allegedly drove to the while under the influence of alcohol to report a letter he received from his apartment complex.

Richard Dickau arrived at the police station shortly before 11 a.m., police said, and asked to talk to an officer about the letter. Police said they smelled alcohol on his breath and Dickau allegedly admitted to having drank alcohol before driving to the police station. He was arrested at the police station and later released after being issued summonses.

  • Julio Montalvo, 52, of Bridgewater, was charged with DWI and issued summonses for careless driving, failure to maintain a lane and driving on the sidewalk on May 30. According to police, Montalvo was stopped at 9:45 p.m. on Changebridge Road when an officer allegedly observed his poor driving while on a "Click it or Ticket" detail. Montalvo was arrested and transported to the Montville Public Safety Building where he was issued summonses and released.
  • Travis Bruno, 22, of Newark, was charged with providing false information on May 31 and arrested on a warrant after police said he and another unnamed man were allegedly running between homes and their vehicle on Old Bloomfield Avenue at 11:30 a.m. Police said the vehicle was reported as suspicious and upon further investigation, police determined the driver, Bruno, to have a warrant out for his arrest. Police said he allegedly provided false information to the officer on the scene and lacked proof of identity. He was arrested and transported to the Montville Public Safety Building and later sent to the Morris County jail in lieu of $2,500 bail with no 10 percent option.
  • Amitkumar Patel, 42, of Oakland, was charged with drunk driving and careless driving on Wednesday after police said he was involved in a motor vehicle accident in which he struck a utility pole on Changebridge Road. Police said he was transported by the to Saint Clare's Hospital in Denville and issued summonses.
