Carbon Monoxide Detected at Lake Valhalla Club
Five treated for dizziness at the scene by Montville's First Aid Squad.
For the second Friday in a row, the Montville Fire Department responded to a carbon monoxide alarm at the .
The most recent call came in Friday night at about 10:30 p.m., according to Montville Fire Chief Scott Herchick.
By the time the firefighters arrived, only employees of the club were still on the property, Herchick said. Some employees reported feeling dizzy and five were treated with oxygen by the Montville Township Volunteer First Aid Squad, but all refused to be taken to a hospital, Herchick said.

When the firefighters went into the club with their carbon monoxide meters, they registered 60 parts per million near the stairs into the club's basement, and 90 parts per million in the basement, said Herchick. The previous week's readings were a little higher, according to Herchick, who said that they went up to 120 parts per million. The meters start alerting at 25 parts per million, he said.
The firefighters ventilated the building and brought in fans, bringing the levels down to zero, shutting propane tanks in the building off and calling Suburban Propane.

"The building is safe," Herchick said. "There could be some kind of issue with the propane lines going into the building, which were addressed by the company, but I don't see it being any type of concern or worry for anyone not to go there."
By midnight the readings were back down to zero and the firefighters left the scene, Herchick said.
A representative for Suburban Propane could not immediately be reached Saturday for comment.
