35-year-old man sent to hospital for evaluation following crash.
Police seized 19 packets of heroin from a car that crashed into a guardrail on Passaic Valley Road Monday after the driver was being followed by an officer, Capt. Rudy Appelmann said.
Appelmann said the man, a 35-year-old Rockaway resident, whose name was not released, was parked in a back corner of a parking lot of a Changebridge Road business when Ptl. Scott McGowan noticed him allegedly throw something from the car around 8 p.m. McGowan drove up to the vehicle, but Appelmann said the driver then began to drive away.
McGowan followed the driver to Passaic Valley Road, Appelmann said, where he then crashed his car into a guardrail.
