Front Door Forced In Lorraine Drive Burglary

Items were stolen from the house Monday evening, police said.

The front door of a Lorraine Drive home was forced through some time Monday evening and items were stolen from the house, authorities said.

The burglary occurred between 6 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. when the residents weren't home, police said.

This is the eighth home burglary Montville police have reported in the township since New Year's Eve.

Police say unlit houses seem to be targeted in the evening and, in most cases, doors are forced in and cash and jewelry are searched for in master bedrooms.

In a police alert about the Monday incident, authorities said residents should remember to leave lights on inside and outside when they leave.

Montville Police Capt. Edward Rosellini has said residents should and record the license plates of suspicious vehicles if possible.
