Police said door appeared to be forced open.

Several pieces of costume jewelry were taken from a Pine Brook home in an apparent burglary on Dec. 24, police said.

Montville Township Police Capt. Rudy Appelmann said the owner of the Maple Avenue home reported the burglary around 5 p.m. The value of the costume jewelry was unknown, although Appelmann said no other items of value appeared to have been taken from the home.

Appelmann said an inside garage door appeared to be forced open at the house, although both overhead garage doors were closed. Police also found a rear door of the home that owners had kept locked was open.
