Cops Pursuing Leads in Lincoln Park Homicide Investigation

'We have no information that suggests that this is a random killing, or that the public is in any specific danger from the perpetrator,' Morris County Prosecutor Robert A. Bianchi said.

Authorities have identified the man whose body was in a wooded area of Lincoln Park, and preliminarily determined the manner of death was homicide, the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office said in a news release Friday.

Morris County Prosecutor Robert A. Bianchi said in a statement residents should be extra vigilant until any murder suspect is in custody, even though there is no information suggesting it was a random killing, or that the public is in any danger. He said the victim apparently did not live in the area.

Authorities are not releasing the name of the man until his next of kin have been notified and the medical examiner’s office makes a final determination of the cause of death, police said.

“While we always caution the public to be extra vigilant until any murder suspect is in custody, we have no information that suggests that this is a random killing, or that the public is in any specific danger from the perpetrator,” Bianchi said.

Bianchi said the Morris County Prosecutor's Office Major Crime Unit, Lincoln Park police and the Morris County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Section have been pursuing leads in New Jersey and New York, he said.
