Car Wash Burglary Under Investigation

Police said cash was stolen after office window was broken.

Montville Township police are investigating an apparent burglary in which cash was stolen from the Green Clean car wash in Pine Brook on Sunday.

The business was broken into by pushing an air conditioning unit through an office window, Capt. Rudy Appelmann said.

Appelmann said the business owners realized the money, of which the amount was not known, was stolen around 8 a.m. The alleged burglary occurred some time overnight between when the business closed and when the owners arrived on Jan. 27.

While the owners reported cash stolen, Appelmann said other valuable items went undisturbed, including a Blackberry cell phone and boombox.

"They took an undetermined amount of cash and nothing else," Appelmann said.
