Bears Reported on Front Lawn, Eating from Bird Feeder in Towaco

Montville police received two calls about bears in Towaco on Saturday.

The Montville Township Police Department was notified twice on Saturday about bear sightings in Towaco, according to Capt. Ed Rosellini. The sightings, which came approximately one hour apart from each other on Saturday morning, were both of a group of three bears, Rosellini said.

The first call came from Alpine Road at approximately 6:45 a.m. on Saturday. The caller reported that there were three bears on the front lawn of the home, but by the time the officers got there the bears were gone, Rossellini said.

A second call came approximately one hour later from Forest Place, where three bears were spotted eating from a backyard bird feeder, Rossellini said.
