Attempted Break-In At Pine Brook Chinese Restaurant

Police say no money was taken at the scene.

Police are looking for two people involved in an apparent attempted break in at the No. 1 Wok's at 6 Route 46 in Pine Brook.

According to Capt. Edward Rosellini, operations commander for the Montville Police Department, the incident occurred around 5 a.m. on Aug. 25. Rosellini said that two unidentified individuals, one driving a black mustang and one attempting to break into the restaurant, fled the scene when the owner of the Donut Dugout, next door to the restaurant, arrived for work.

"I pulled in around ten after 4 and saw the car parked in front of the restaurant," owner Dominic Delplato said. "I didn't think too much of it at the time, but I noticed a little later that the car was parked diagonally.  I saw this guy walk past me and get into the car, and overheard him say something like 'couldn't get in the door.'"

Delplato, who has owned the Donut Dugout for three years, said that he watched the two individuals drive away westbound on Route 46. He investigated the front door of the restaurant, and upon seeing the attempted break-in, called the police.

"Thank God I came around when I did," he said. "I was even thinking this morning of hitting the snooze on my alarm clock."
