Assaults, Burglaries, Car Thefts in Montville Rise From 2012

Statistics show that rape and larceny has dropped in Montville in 2013 through September when compared to the 2012 numbers.

The New Jersey State Police released an updated version of the Uniform Crime Reports from September 2012-13. 

Montville PD saw drops and increases in certain crime categories listed from Jan. - Sept. 2012 compared to Jan. - Sept. 2013. Among the categories that increased were simple assault, burglaries and motor vehicle thefts.

The numbers below represent the total number of arrests made in each category as reported by the State of New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety Division of State Police Uniform Crime Reporting Unit.

  • Rape - 1
  • Assault - 4
  • Assault (Simple) – 20
  • Burglary – 19
  • Larceny (Theft)  -  110
  • Motor Vehicle Theft – 2

2013 – Jan. – Sept.

  • Rape - 0
  • Assault - 4
  • Assault (Simple) – 23
  • Burglary – 32
  • Larceny (Theft)  -  87
  • Motor Vehicle Theft – 7

  • Unlawful Entry - 5
  • Attempted Forcible Entry - 4
2013
  • Forcible Entry - 12
