Daily Record: Authorities Believe Man Committed Bank Robberies While Out On Bail

Nathaniel Barreto is suspected to be involved in a North Arlington robbery on March 26.

The Daily Record is reporting that Nathaniel Barreto, who is currently a prime suspect in a series of bank robberies in Northern New Jersey, including the robbery at the Pine Brook Bank of America on Aug. 2, may to have committed as many as eight bank robberies while out on bail for a bank robbing incident in North Arlington.

According to the report, Barreto allegedly robbed a North Arlington Bank of America on March 26 and was arrested a little over a week later. The report goes on to say that a bail bonds company paid his full $125,000 bail, which was reduced from $350,000, in full.

Authorities from North Arlington have not yet verified the facts of this report to Patch.  Barreto and Juan Perez, both of Newark, were charged with robbing a PNC bank in Hanover on Aug. 17. Federal authorities say that while Barreto has admitted to seven other area robberies, no additional charges have been made. Perez has admitted to being a driver for two of the robberies, including the Hanover robbery; it's not clear which other incident he allegedly took part in.
