Police: Woman Slams Into Utility Pole, Charged With DWI

Towaco resident taken to hospital after incident at Changebridge and Woodmont roads.

A one-car accident late Tuesday night that took out a utility pole at the intersection of Changebridge and Woodmont roads led to the issuance of a DWI summons, Montville Police said Wednesday.

The driver of the 2007 Saturn was identified as Michelle Sadowski, 21, of Towaco, according to Capt. Ed Rosellini, of the .

Sadowksi sustained injuries from the accident, which occurred at about midnight, was removed from the car by the and  and was transported to Morristown Memorial Hospital, where she was treated for injuries, Rosellini said.

The accident downed a telephone pole, shattered the front window of the vehicle, and damaged the passenger side of the car, Rosellini said. Sadowski was issued summonses for driving while intoxicated, careless driving and failure to maintain lanes, Rosellini said.

This article previously reported that blood samples were taken to determine that the driver was over the legal limit. The blood samples were taken, but results at this point are not yet certain. A summons for driving while intoxicated was issued, pending results.
