2nd Alleged Attempted Luring Incident Reported in 1 Week

A 14-year-old girl reported being followed on Speedwell Avenue Tuesday, according to police.

A 14-year-old told Morristown Police she was followed Tuesday afternoon by a Jeep Cherokee while walking home on Speedwell Avenue.

According to a press release issued by Capt. Steven Sarinelli Thursday morning, the report filed Wednesday afternoon claims a black Jeep drove slowly behind the teen as she walked home at about 5 p.m. on Oct. 23.

The teen then noticed two Hispanic males crossing Speedwell Avenue and one of them yelled "get her," according to the press release. She then began to run toward a family member’s home near Fredrick Street.

The teen was not certain if the Jeep and men that allegedly shouted "get her" were associated. She described the men as two older Hispanic males with dark hair, wearing jeans, light-colored, hooded sweatshirts.

"There are no clear links established between the black Jeep and the men that made the comment to her," Sarinelli said in the press release.

This alleged incident comes just a week after another teen reported being followed by a light-skinned Hispanic male in a dark-colored pickup truck from Morristown High School to the area near Burnham Park. That investigation is still ongoing.

Anyone with information or who witnessed anything suspicious is asked to contact Det. Chris Oakley of the Morristown Police Department at 973-292-6645. Information also can be provided anonymously through Morris County Crime Stoppers at 973-COP-CALL.

We have to protect our children. I do not have any school children anymore but I do have grandchildren. Let's keep our eyes and ears open, so when can band together and catch these people.

I've got a 12 gauge I'd like to introduce these bastards doing this kind of crap to kids around here. I'll call the police but before that, I'll take care of it on my own. No one comes into my neighborhood and does this stuff! People, keep an eye out for anyone...men, women of all races targeting kids.

I am from Mexico. Live and work legally in Morristown. And I think we need to get rid of these guys NOW. I looked for a job in the US because I couldn't stand the lack of safety and civility in Mexico City. Honestly, in most Latin cultures this kind of behavior towards lonely woman is relatively common. It's "tolerated" and it absolutely shouldn't. We have to take a stand. We need CIVIL residents and vigorously defend the cities where we live. Let's make it very clear to all Morristown and specially speedwell residents, it's not OK to whistle, touch or threaten any woman. Today is a girl you don't know, tomorrow it will be your wife or daughter.
