'The Wizard of Oz' Comes to Montville High

“The Wizard of Oz” will grace the boards of the Dr. Robert O. Stafford Auditorium, for four performances only, on March 13, 14 and 15, at Montville Township High School [MTHS].

Munchkins, music and merriment are the hallmarks of this classic MGM inspired production of L. Frank Baum’s timeless tale of friends and family.

Produced by the MTHS Drama Club, the 2014 spring musical will feature more than 100 students from all seven of Montville Township’s schools. High school students, Sam Chapman, Isaac Minkoff, Brianna Morris and Raynor Rubel, as Lion, Scarecrow, Dorothy and Tinman, will lead Toto and the cast of 4th through 12th graders along the Yellow Brick Road to The Emerald City.

Director, Scott R. Baird of Rockaway, NJ, guides the colorfully costumed cast of beloved characters as they dance Over the Rainbow and through the Land of Oz.

Baird, a veteran director, has worked with all ages and staged almost 20 musicals and plays over the past 10 years at area schools as well as at Montclair State’s Alexander Kasser Theatre. His production of “The Wizard of Oz” is a high energy musical feast perfect for all ages.

Tickets for “The Wizard of Oz” are on sale now through March 11 at showtix4u.com. Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for students and senior citizens. Show times are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, March 13, 14, and 15 at 7:30PM. There will also be a Saturday, March 15 performance at 2PM. MTHS is located at 100 Horseneck Road in Montville, NJ. Tickets will also be available at the door while supplies last.
