Montville Teacher Named Outstanding Earth Science Instructor

James Miller receives award from National Geoscience Association.

The National Association of Geoscience Teachers, Eastern Section [NAGT] recently announced their selection for the New Jersey Outstanding Earth Science Teacher Award.

James Miller, of Montville Township High School [MTHS], was nominated by several colleagues, and chosen as the 2014 recipient of the award by the national association’s awards committee.

As a Montville Township Public School teacher, Miller is committed to excellence in teaching, particularly in the subject of Earth Science.

Nationally, one of the goals of Earth Science instruction is to promote effective stewardship and prepare students to become productive and responsible citizens who understand both the complexities and the vulnerabilities of the planet Earth.

NAGT annually recognizes quality teaching of the geosciences at all levels.

According to the NAGT website, Miller was chosen for the New Jersey Outstanding Earth Science Teacher award for his "exceptional contributions to the stimulation of interest in the Earth Sciences at the pre-college level." 

News of Miller’s selection for the New Jersey Outstanding Earth Science Teacher Award was announced by Steve Lindberg, NAGT Awards Chair.
