Montville Eagle Scout Honored for Animal Shelter Sign

The new sign has a timber frame and a slate roof.

The board of education President Karen Cortellino presented Joseph S. Mianecki a plaque to recognize his Eagle Scout Award in Troop 74 last week.

Mianecki has “reached the great distinction of Eagle Scout and … has completed his Eagle Scout service by constructing a 4-foot by 6-foot freestanding sign for the New Montville Animal Shelter on Church Lane,” said Cortellino. “It’s beautiful.”

Mianecki designed the sign to match the previous River Road sign with assistance from volunteers.

“I especially want to thank my parents for helping me, especially my mother for pushing me and my father for guiding me,” said Mianecki, adding he wanted to thank the school district “for this plaque, it’s much appreciated.”

The sign has a timber frame and a slate roof. There are also perennials and mulch around the sign.

“He also dug a trench from the building to the sign and placed a conduit to provide for future electrical power to the sign,” said Cortellino.
