The Montville Township Fire Department and St. Barnabas Fire Safety House stopped by their recent scout meeting.

Although pink is popping up for Breast Cancer Awareness month, let’s not forget that October is also National Fire Prevention Month.

The Montville Township Fire Department, St. Barnabas Fire Safety House and the Pine Brook Fire Department stopped by a local cub scout meeting.  Pine Brook FD recently celebrated its 100th anniversary.

Cub Scout Pack 179 learned about fire safety at their Pack meeting on Thursday.

“It is important to identify and correct household hazards that could lead to a fire and burn injuries,” said Greg Goldstein, cubmaster. “The Montville Fire Department and St. Barnabas Fire Safety House taught the boys about the importance of fire safety and simulated a house fire with non-toxic smoke so the boys could formulate and practice an escape plan.”

"Three of the firemen are Eagle Scouts with Troop 74," said Goldstein.
