Longtime Montville Volunteer Leann Zielinski Honored

Committee recognizes community figure who passed away Aug. 10.

Leann Zielinski had her hands, and her heart, in many community organizations around Montville.

The Montville Township Committee recognized the longtime resident at Tuesday's meeting, presenting Zielinski’s sons, Ray and Eric Zielinski, with a proclamation.

Zielinski lived in Montville for 25 years. Mayor Tim Braden described her as having a philanthropic heart, saying she donated both money and time to various community causes. She also worked in the community before retiring as vice president of C Z Mechanical.

Zielinski, who passed away on Aug. 10, was also active in the Montville Senior club, where she was serving as treasurer.

Friends Ceil Winters and Nikki Basile, who attended the meeting with other Senior Club members, said Zielinski was always available to help, from offering rides to medical appointments to delivering medicine and knitting hats.

“She did everything and she did it well,” Winters said.

“She was a great lady all around,” Basile added.

Ray Zielinski thanked the mayor and committee for their recognition of his mother.

“My mom loved the community,” he said. “It’s heartwarming to see her recognized this way. She loved the senior club and the community.”
