German School of Morris County Students To Sing at Annual Lake Mohawk German Christmas Market, Saturday, December 7, 2013

Students at the German School of Morris County (www.glsmc.org)
will celebrate the holiday season at the Lake Mohawk German Christmas Market
and sing traditional German carols at 4:30 p.m. on December 7, 2013.  Students at the School’s booth will hand out
Advent calendars and decorations and German songbooks.  Attendees can learn more about the school’s
Saturday language and cultural enrichment programs and enter the school’s
annual scholarship raffle.

“Everyone looks forward to the annual Christmas
Market[MM1] , which mirrors the Christmas bazaars found
in villages and cities throughout the German-speaking countries,“ notes Martina
Molner, School President. “Our kids can share their gift of music with
traditional Christmas hymns and carols, while helping local charities.  We invite the public to join and sing along,
as most of the songs are familiar to us in English and German.“

The
students have been practicing for weeks to ensure that the traditional carols such
as O Tannenbaum, O Tannenbaum; Lasst uns froh und munter sein
and Kling, Glöckchen, klingelingeling! will get everyone into the Christmas
mood.

Lake
Mohawk German Christmas Market Support Community Charities

The annual Christmas market (http://lakemohawkgermanchristmasmarket.com),
sponsored by the Lake Mohawk Country Club, features an opening tree-lighting
ceremony on Friday, December 6, followed by the two-day market.  The vendors on the lake’s boardwalk and
inside the Lake Mohawk Country Club offer unique and traditional gift items,
including European chocolates, handcrafted pottery, wood and fabric items such
as timeless German traditional hand crafted wooden nutcrackers, pyramids, and
smoker men home decor.   Vendors set
along the picturesque lakefront serve traditional items from sizzling German
sausages, sumptuous soups, goulash and sauerbraten to hand-warming hot
chocolate, apple strudel, linzer tarts, and gingerbread men and warmed mulled
spice wine (gluhwein), while local school choirs and entertainers offer festive
music and entertainment.  More than
$15,000 from the 2012 Market benefitted 15 Sussex area charities.
