Incumbents Re-Elected to District 26 Senate, Assembly Seats

BettyLou DeCroce, Jay Webber and Joseph Pennacchio retain their positions in Trenton.

The Republican trio of state Sen. Joseph Pennacchio, Asw. BettyLou DeCroce and Asm. Jay Webber will keep their seats in the New Jersey Legislature after voters overwhelmingly supported the incumbents.

Pennacchio received 64.95 percent of the vote against Democrat Avery Ann Hart, with a total vote tally of 22,978 to 12,390.

DeCroce received 33.08 percent of the vote and 22,939 tallies, while her colleague Webber took 32.77 percent of the vote and 22,721 tallies.

"I am greatly appreciative for the support of the voters in District 26," said DeCroce in reaction to her win. "It's not just about Republicans and Democrats, it's about providing good government for those we represent.  I always will have a listening ear, an open mind and the willingness to work with anyone."

Challengers for the 26th District assembly seats were Democrats Elliot Isibor and Joseph Raich. Isibor received nearly 17.13 percent of the vote and 11,879 tallies, while Raich garnered 11,777 votes, or 16.98 percent.

Opponent Joseph Raich attributed his defeat to lack of news coverage throughout the campaign.

"It was tough getting messages out; the major newspapers didn't cover us," he said. "I'm dismayed by the issues that didn't get an airing that we are concerned about. [Democrats will] have to work hard to make it all gel together."
