Montville Candidates Reflect on Elections

Here's a look at what candidates have to say now that the polls have closed.

It was a close race. Go to this Patch article to see what the School Board election results were.

"I wanted to thank everyone who supported me along with everyone who came out to vote to have their voice heard," Morella said. "Thank you to my family and friends for their love and support. Congratulations to my running mate Carmela Novi, along with Mike O’Brien and David Modrak. Thank you to Diane Bordonaro for running a well fought campaign. I look forward to another three years of serving our great Township of Montville"

"I am so pleased to have been re-elected and I thank the voters for allowing me a second term on the school board," said Novi. "A special thank you for my family for supporting my commitment to a high quality public education for the children of Montville Township.  Congratulations to my running-mate John Morella and to Mike O’Brien and David Modrak for their victories.  Thank you to Diane Bordonaro for throwing her hat in the ring and running a clean, intelligent campaign.  I look forward to continuing my work on the Board of Education for the students, teachers and taxpayers of Montville Township."

"I'd like to thank everyone who supported my campaign and the ideas I put forth.  I look forward to continuing to advocate for the best possible education for our children," said Bordonaro.

Republicans Richard D. Conklin and incumbent Scott Gallopo, defeated Democrats Daniel Grant and Truscha Quatrone by a large margin for the two Montville committee seats with three-year terms.

"I am truly honored to have won and look forward to working with the committee. I promise to adhere to my campaign commitments and work hard for our community," said Conklin. "Montville is a small town and I have known my opponents (Dan and Truscha) for many years. This was one of the cleanest campaigns that I can recall (primary and general elections) and I hope they stay "constructively" involved with township issues.  At the age of 64, I only regret that several family members, and my diseased parents, were not with me to celebrate."

"I am truly grateful and humbled by the show of support and confidence I received from the voters in this election," said Gallopo. "It’s been an honor serving this community for the last three years as a member of the Township Committee, and I remain committed to keep Montville an affordable, safe, and enjoyable place to live and raise a family.  I would also like to extend my congratulations to my running-mate Rich Conklin for his win, and I look forward to working with him on the Township Committee over the next three years."
