Wrestling Kicks off Regional Tournament

A daily look at what you need to know in Montville.

It’s Friday, so that means the weekend is upon us. If you are looking for some things to do this weekend (or if you are a fan of the Beatles), we’ve got a breakdown of what’s happening in the region this weekend. Before we get there, however, there are a few things people should know about February 25.:

  1. Bring Your Umbrella: The National Weather service is calling for heavy rainfall today, with nearly an inch of precipitation expected through the course of the day. The bright side is, that with a high in the 50s, a lot of the fallen snow could melt away. The down side of that, however, is that the township is under a flood watch.
  2. There’s Going to be Some Wrestling: The Montville Mustangs varsity wrestling team will head out Wallkill Valley to take part in the regional wrestling tournament. Montville had four boys take home district titles in Hopatcong last weekend, so look for the Mustangs to do well against the rest of the region this weekend.
  3. Bone Up on Computer Stuff: The Montville library is holding its computer training class from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., focusing on the basic uses of Microsoft Excel spreadsheet program. The class does require registration, but you can register at the Library’s main desk, and might be able to squeeze in if you get there at 9am to register, but don’t come looking for me if the class is full.
  4. Watch Out on Route 80: The state department of transportation is doing some work installing wire mesh to prevent fallen rocks on Route 80 near the Changebridge overpass. While the project is a no blasting affair, work will be going on between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
  5. Get Your Recycling Together: Check back to Patch on Monday for a full breakdown of the township’s new recycling plan, but for now make sure you head town to the municipal building to pick up a new recycling package, which includes a new single-stream sticker and a letter explaining what is going on March 1.
