Two Budgets, One Night

A rundown of what you need to know about Tuesday.

According to Holidays.net, March 22 is National Goof Off Day. Apparently, no one got the memo in Montville: the township is seeing a whole mess of meetings and events Tuesday. Here's a primer for five of the things happening in town today:

  1. The Township's 2011 Budget Process Continues: A lot will be discussed, including the township’s 2011 budget and goals, as well as the appointment of a new member to the recreation committee and a resolution regarding wireless technology (As of Tuesday morning, the Towaco fire budget isn’t on the agenda).
  2. Speaking in Tongues: The Montville high school World Honor Society induction ceremony is happening at 7 p.m. at the Montville auditorium. The society will induct 95 students in three separate languages, including Italian, French and Spanish.
  3. Even More Budget Talks: Also at the high school, the Board of Education and Superintendent Dr. Paul Fried will present the proposed 2011-2012 school budget in the media center at 7:30 p.m. This presentation is one of several the board is putting on to help answer questions and get the word out about the proposed budget leading up the April 27 voting date.
  4. The 'Ol College Try: The Montville public library is hosting an event The talk, which starts at 7 p.m. and is free to students, will cover the application process and provide tips for getting into top colleges.
  5. No More Snow in March, Please: Though it might not last into the evening, Montville should see some sun Tuesday. The National Weather services is calling for sun with a high of 51, which should come as some refeilf after the cold, foggy way the week started.
