Police Make One DUI Arrest on Fourth of July

East Hanover man was arrested after pulling out of the Wendy's parking lot on Route 46.

An East Hanover man was arrested for driving under the influence around 1 a.m. on the Fourth of July after pulling out of the Wendy's parking lot on Route 46 in Montville, according to the .

The call came in from the Fairfield Police Department, who gave a description of the vehicle for the Montville Police to look for, said Capt. Ed Rosellini of the Montville Township Police.

Rosellini said that the officer pulled over John Keenan, 40, of East Hanover after he exited from the Wendy's, heading westbound on Route 46. The officer reported that he detected a strong odor of alcohol, said Rosellini.

After administering a field sobriety test, Keenan was arrested and brought back to police headquarters where he refused a Breathalyzer test, said Rosellini.

Rosellini said that Keenan was issued summonses for driving under the influence, refusal to submit to a Breathalyzer test, and failure to signal.
