NJ.com: Black Bear in Boonton

Two separate black bear attacks took place last week.

NJ.com is reporting that a black bear attacked and killed two sheep on separate properties in Boonton last week.

According to the report, the second attack, which took place on Sept. 29, occurred at Powerville and Rockaway Valley Roads, which is less than a mile from the northern end of Montville Township.

Earlier this year, the NJ DEP approved a controlled black bear hunt, set to take place in December, which would include a portion of the township as hunting ground.
