New Principal, Iron Mines, Baseball Beefsteak This Week

A look at the week ahead in Montville Township.

Board of Education: Montville's school board is scheduled to meet at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Montville Township High School. The superintendent is expected to discuss future Hilldale School Principal Jill Cisneros in his report. A vote on the district's technology plan and presentations honoring student award winners also are on the agenda.

HaZamir North Jersey Performs in Montville: HaZamir North Jersey, the International Jewish High School Choir, is delighted to perform for Yom Yerushalayim, Jerusalem Reunification Day, at Pine Brook Jewish Center at 7 p.m. Wednesday. 
HaZamir gives Jewish teens a high level choral experience in a Jewish environment. The local HaZamir chapter is led by Cantor Joel Caplan. 
The concert is free and the entire community is invited.

Iron Mines of Morris County: Joe Macasek of the Morris Canal Society presents an informative program on iron mining in Morris County at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Montville Township Public Library. Learn where the mines were located, the kinds of technology used and how the miners lived and worked.

Spotlight on Ancient Egypt: Explore "Ancient Egypt" with the Morris Museum at 1 p.m. Friday at the Montville Township Public Library.

Baseball Beefsteak: Montville Baseball Beefsteak Dinner will be held from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. Friday at the American Legion of Lincoln Park, 133 Main Street. Price is $60 per person and includes dinner, beer, wine and soda.

There will also be a Tricky Tray, 50/50 and DJ entertainment. For tickets email montvillebaseball@gmail.com. Proceeds will benefit Montville Township High School Baseball; fundraising goals include a speaker/sound system for baseball fields as well as updated equipment, new uniforms and field maintenance. The Montville Baseball and Softball Association (MBSA) will be honored at the event.
