Montville Trying To Return to 'Normal' After Sandy

Mayor said township infrastructure is up and running.

Two days after Tropical Storm Sandy tore through New Jersey, Montville Township is working to return to ordinary life despite power outages leaving the majority of township residents in the dark.

Mayor Tim Braden said all borough employees returned to work Wednesday and the township's website has been restored. Most roads have been reopened, with the exception of a few, and "our infrastructure is up and running," Braden said.

"We're trying to make conditions as normal as possible," he said.

Braden said the Montville Office of Emergency Management will be continuing to meet and that many residents have taken advantage of the comfort stations set up at all three fire department houses. Braden said the Towaco and Pine Brook firehouses in particular have power.

As for power restoration, township officials said Tuesday night no timeline has been given by JCP&L for when residents can expect to have power again, aside from the pre-storm estimate of 7 to 10 days.

Township officials expect to have no water or sewer interruptions and garbage and recycling pickups are planned for Section 1 and Section 2 on Thursday and Friday.
