Library Fixes Up Patrons on Blind Dates With Books

Valentine's tradition lets patrons check out wrapped books.

They wait at the entrance of the as if waiting for someone to go out with them.

"Take me out," they say.

But no matter how well the date goes, eventually you'll have to take them back.

About a dozen books, carefully wrapped in pink or brown paper, are on display at the library as part of an annual Valentine's Day tradition.

Patrons can check the books out—the barcodes are affixed to the wrapping paper—and give them a try, and then they must be brought back. Readers are encouraged to write reviews, with the chance to have the review posted on the library website.

Karen Matta, head of technical services for the library, said she got the idea from another library in Morris County and includes a mix of random books, including romances and mysteries.
