Four members present, one member votes by phone.

The board of trustees approved the library's strategic plan for 2011 to 2014 by a vote of 4-1 on Wednesday night in a special meeting held in the Pio Costa Auditorium in the library.

The plan breaks down into seven main goals:

  • Provide access to information technology: Montville Township Library users will have access to current information technology to meet their needs and interests.
  • Operate an energy efficient facility: Montville Township Library plans to operate facilities at optimum energy efficiency and cost effectiveness.
  • Improve patron services: Montville Library seeks to provide superior customer service.
  • Build community awareness and promote the library: The Montville Library would like to better promote its services and programs so that all township residents are aware of all the library has to offer.
  • Provide life-long learning programs for pre-school thru senior citizens: Montville Library strives to provide learning programs for their patrons.
  • Utilize shared services: The Montville Library will seek ways to partner with the municipality and Board of Education to procure cost effective services and goods.

The only dissenting vote came from Robert Lefkowitz, who questioned during the meeting whether some of the points discussed at a prior meeting had been added to the plan, but other members of the board said that many of the items discussed at recent meetings were merely suggestions.
