Montville Home Destroyed in Fire

A Tumbling Brook Drive home was destroyed by an early morning fire Friday. Police and fire officials are still investigating what caused the fire, but a neighbor said the owners were not home at the time and were in the process of selling the house and moving to Boonton Township.

Coach Asks Montville BOE to Let Her Keep Job

Kristen SanFilippo, an assistant track coach and wife of asked the Montville Township Board of Education Tuesday night to renew her coaching contract at the high school. But the board ultimately voted on a replacement. The board attorney said board members were unable to comment on the issue, as it is personnel related, although several students spoke in favor of the coach and one parent accused the athletic director of "destroying the track program."

Sewer Rates May Not Be Lowered Afterall

Township officials are discussing what to do about having to pay a higher cost to the Parsippany Troy-Hills Wastewater Treatment Plant this year than originally anticipated. The lower sewer rates promised to taxpayers to begin in January may no longer be possible, officials said.

Students Spend a Night Without Homework

The Montville school district's first Homework-free Night was a success, according to Superintendent Dr. Paul Fried, as students were able to spend more time with their families on Oct. 9.

Maple Ave. Dead End Gets Green Light

After months of discussion, the Montville Township Committee approved constructing a curbed island dead end in the Pine Brook neighborhood last week.

Two Montville Township High School sophomores presented the new three-year Science Research program to the Montville Township Board of Education Tuesday night. The students, who are involved in the program, explained their work and time spent studying science topics of their choice.
