Egg Hunt, Budget Discussions Continue This Week

Environmental Commission will also meet.

Annual Montville Township Egg Hunt Will Be Sunday

The Montville Township Recreation Department will host its annual Easter egg hunt on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Montville Community Park Turf field at 130 Changebridge Road. The hunt is geared toward kids from pre-K through third grade.

The Egg Hunt is open to Montville residents only and will have plastic eggs scattered throughout the field, some with special prizes marked on notes inside. Also during the event there will be a petting zoo, balloon-sculptor and face-painter.

The kids will be broken down into age groups for the egg hunt. Parents will not be allowed to participate in the egg hunt for their kids and baskets will not be provided.

Montville BOE Budget Talks to Continue

The Montville Township Board of Education will host its final presentation on the 2013-14 school budget on Thursday. 

At the last budget meeting on March 5, the board approved a preliminary $68,239,911 budget. Under the preliminary budget, which came in below the 2 percent state-mandated spending increase cap, taxes on the average assessed Montville home would increase by about $89.68 in the 2013-14 school year.

But the largest portion of discussion on the district's budget was related to changing the times of district schools to allow for an earlier dismissal for Lazar School students. Currently students are dismissed at 3:40 p.m. from the middle school.

The board will present the budget to the public and continue discussion at 7 p.m. in the Montville Township High School cafeteria.

Montville Environmental Commission to Meet

The Montville Township Environmental Commission will be meeting Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the municipal building. Among other items being discussed, the group could discuss the upcoming water conservation workshop the commission will be hosting at the Senior Center next month.
