Annual Earth Day Cleanup Will Be Held Saturday
The Montville Township Recreation Department will host its annual Earth Day Cleanup this year on Saturday from 9 a.m. until about 11 a.m. Pre-registration was required but Saturday's event will have volunteers teaming up in groups to rid Montville streets, streams and walkways of litter.
Teams will gather before the cleanup for refreshments at 8 a.m. at the Montville Township Municipal Building.
Township Committee Could Continue Budget Discussion
The Montville Township Committee will be meeting Tuesday at 8 p.m. in the municipal building on Changebridge Road. At the last township committee meeting (on April 2), the administration introduced the 2013 municipal budget and discussion could continue at this week's meeting.

Under the introduced budget, taxes on the average Montville home assessed at $528,000 would increase by about $95. The overall tax rate built into the municipal budget is projected to increase from $2.12 per $100 of assessed value to $2.16, an increase of 1.8 percent.
