After a Lincoln Park bank was robbed Thursday afternoon, authorities said they believe the alleged robber, who was sporting a straw cowboy hat and olive green blazer, may have also been responsible for other robberies in Morris County this month.

CNN/Money Magazine thinks Parsippany is rather swell. The publication ranked the township at No. 15 in the nation for having nearly 30 Fortune 500 companies, its holiday celebrations and sports teams, ethnic diversity and proximity to New York City.

A Watchung neighborhood was in lockdown while law enforcement agencies, including the Somerset County SWAT team, worked to difuse a "suicide by cop" threat made by a resident. The man allegedly had "homicidal" thoughts and surrendered to police after a five-hour standoff.

A Bridgewater man with a prior sexual assault conviction faces a minimum of 10 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography on his laptop, according to the Department of Justice.

A Parsippany mother was killed and her 12-year-old daughter injured in a crash in upstate New York Sunday. Police said the girl had to be extricated from the vehicle and the driver of the other vehicle, a Poughkeepsie resident, was also transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

NJ Monthly magazine released it's biennial list of the top high schools in the state this week. Which high school is the best? The magazine ranked New Providence High School the highest. In Morris County, Kinnelon High School was ranked highest at No. 5 and Ridge High School (in Bernards Township) was ranked the highest for Somerset County at No. 9. Hopatcong High School, in Sussex County, came in at No. 289 and Wayne Valley, in Passaic County, came in at No. 64.

Dozens of students, parents and coaches attended a Montville Township Public Schools Board of Education meeting this week to speak out against the district's decision not to offer former assistant track coach Anthony San Filippo a position this year. The students commented that San Filippo is an "amazing man" and urged the board to reconsider.

Richard Smith, the 62-year-old grand marshal of the 2012 Morris County St. Patrick's Day Parade, was arrested and charged with DWI and leaving the scene of an accident. Police alleged he was involved in the hit-and-run of a parked vehicle on Aug. 11.

Priti Shetty is suing the Dunkin' Donuts corporation after she was not allowed to open a store in Stockholm after owning two stores in Wantage and Oak Ridge. Shetty said because she is a woman of Indian descent she was discriminated against. A black couple from Montclair is also suing the corporation for discrimination.

The New York Jets are back in the New Jersey and had their first public practice at the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center Thursday. Thousands of fans began lining up outside the facility in the early morning hours in hopes they would catch a glimpse of Gang Green in action.
