Cedar Hill School Planning to Host TREP$ Market

Young entrepreneurs of Cedar Hill Elementary School will continue to work Friday on their business ideas, products and plans to present to their peers, parents and community during the school's annual TREP$ Marketplace.

The TREP$ program began in West Milford, when two teachers' sons had an idea to sell wrapping paper at a school event and were impressed by how much they learned about business through the process. Schools throughout the state now hold TREP$ Marketplaces after the students have the time to fully develop their own business plans.

The students spend weeks planning business models for original products they develop ultimately leading up to a community event, held in April last year, in which they sell their products. Students will be meeting Friday at Cedar Hill to continue to work on their projects.

Twp. Committee to Continue Discussion on River Road Parking Lot Paving

The Montville Township Committee will consider adopting a bond ordinance to reappropriate funds for the first phase of a paving project at the 86 River Road parking lot. The committee has been discussing paving the lot since the last spring Montville Baseball & Softball Association season, as MBSA members have approaced the committee and complained of the poor condition of the lot, as well as committee members expressing the need for repairs. The committee had even considered working with the Montville Township Board of Education on the project, as the parking lot is shared with a board office building.

Under the bond ordinance introduced at the Feb. 26 township committee meeting, the committee would be reappropriating $45,000 and supplementing that money with $72,000 for the first phase of the project.
