Not From The Sidelines (For Now)

Sometimes you just can't sit out on the sidelines. Or, how I gave the Republican organization a chance to redeem themselves.

This morning I signed the acceptance of the write-in to the Montville Township Committee. This means that the Democratic Party will have full representation in the Fall election. The recent Republican primary campaign was one of the most negative that I have seen in my forty years of participation in Montville Township politics and it is my hope that we can conduct this general election on the issues of experience, viewpoint and records of the candidates.

I served Montville Township in one of the most dynamic times in our history for 15 years and am content to run on that record and my view of the future of Montville Township.

To that end I have developed a "Clean Campaign Pledge" along with my brother Bob who is running in Denville. It is my hope that all the candidates will join with me in signing this pledge after their review. We have much to present to the voters and in my view much that needs to be corrected on the part of the Township Committee.

For six years I have seen campaigns degenerate into inacurrate portrayals and denigrating attacks. Records and positions are fair game but people's families, friends and associates or guilt by association are not proper. The recent attempt by one of the Republican campaigns to demonize me in a effort to tar their opposition in their last flyer is a prime example of what I am talking about. Montville Townhship deserves better than that.
