CCM Foundation Gala to Honor PSEG’s Ralph Izzo

The County College of Morris (CCM) Foundation’s 2013 Scholarship Gala will honor PSEG head Ralph Izzo as well as four distinguished alumni at its annual fundraiser. The black-tie-optional dinner/dance will be held on Friday, April 26, at the Hyatt-Morristown at Headquarters Plaza.

Izzo will receive the foundation’s annual Leadership Award, an honor bestowed on an area business or community leader who has made an outstanding contribution to education in the State of New Jersey.

“Education is important, not only to those who wish to make a better life for themselves, it is also a key component to a healthy economy,” said Izzo, president, chairman and chief operating officer of PSEG. “New Jersey is fortunate to be home to a number of respected higher education institutions and County College of Morris is one of them. I’m impressed by their work and happy to be part of their celebration.”

Izzo was instrumental in last fall’s effort to pass the Building Our Future ballot question. That initiative was approved by New Jersey voters, providing $750 million for higher education in the state. Izzo is also chairman of the board of governors of Rutgers University.

“We are honored to be recognizing Dr. Izzo, not only for his leadership of one of our state’s most well-respected companies, but for his commitment to improving higher education in New Jersey,” said Joseph Vitale, president of the CCM Foundation.

In addition, four of the college’s alumni will be recognized for their achievements: Anthony Leggio of Lumberton will receive the alumnus of the year award. Leggio, a 1977 CCM graduate, is regional vice president and corporate director of AT&T Business Solutions. Erin Fowler of Gaithersburg, MD, a 1997 graduate, will receive the Alumni Achievement award. She is senior policy advisor to the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response and Predecessor Organizations/U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Scott Kansky of Morristown will receive the Alumni Humanitarian award. Kansky, who graduated the college in 1997, is a flight paramedic with Atlantic Ambulance Corporation and vice president of the Morris Minute Men Emergency Medical Services. Christopher Linne, his wife, Jan, and daughter Jennifer of Hackettstown will receive the Alumni Service Award. Christopher Linne and Jennifer Linne are graduates of CCM. This year, the Linne family established a scholarship at CCM for students majoring in business administration or criminal justice.

The CCM gala will feature music by the Warren Daniels Orchestra as well as a silent auction offering resort trips, Broadway show tickets, tickets to professional sports events as well as artwork. Proceeds from the event support scholarships and other programs at CCM.
