Year in Montville Business: A Look Back at 2012

Expanded restaurant, new spa open up this year in Montville.

Here's a look at what businesses opened or expanded in the past year in Montville:

Facez

The new beauty spa, which opened this fall in the historic Canal House, is the creation of owner and Montville resident Jacqueline Catanese. Facez has been in business for more than 10 years, but made the move to Montville so that the artists could create their own atmosphere in their own facility. The spa features rustic furniture and decor and focuses primarily on bridal hair and makeup and eyelash extensions.

Dugout Bagels and Cafe

Owner Avram Balasis took over the former Donut Dugout, renovating the restaurant and bringing in a new chef. While the Dugout still offers some baked goods, including donuts and bagels, the menu has been expanded to also offer catering options and more sandwiches.

Gencarelli's

While the Italian restaurant and pizzeria has been a staple of the Montville community for years, this year was the first since the room next door was included in Gencarelli's to offer a full restaurant experience. The dining room features the same menu favorites that had previously been available for takeout.
