Giudices Eyed Local Strip Mall to Open Cupcake Shop, Report Says

'Real Housewives' couple scouted restaurant for lease in Montville Township days before indictment, according to the New York Daily News.

A Towaco husband and wife who are stars on "The Real Housewives of New Jersey" were thinking about selling cupcakes in Montville Township in the days before they were indicted on federal fraud charges, according to a news report.

Teresa Giudice was considering opening a "cupcake cafe" with her husband, Giuseppe "Joe" Giudice—possibly as a story line for a reality TV series—and checked out a restaurant for lease about a mile from their Towaco mansion, the New York Daily News reported.

The shopping center already has a bakery, barber shop, salon and deli, the report says.

The husband and wife are facing the possibility of decades in prison if convicted and, for Joe Giudice, who is a citizen of Italy, the possibility of being deported.

The cupcake concept would not be the first business venture the Giudices have considered opening nearby.

"Me and Tre are actually opening a new restaurant in Parsippany, New Jersey called Villa di Vino," Joe Giudice wrote in "Fabulicious," one of his wife's cookbooks, released in 2011. "It's going to feature all of her great recipes and my wine. Come by and we'll hook you up!"

Teresa Giudice later told Patch they were looking to open Villa Di Vino on Route 46 in the space that was formerly Villa Domenico and is now Amiya, but the deal fell through.

She said one of the ideas was to serve appetizers from her cookbooks, and have wine tastings. Joe Giudice makes his own wine. She said at the time that Villa Di Vino, or a venture like it, could still be in the future.

"He's always looking. He wants to do something different," she said.
