Poor Henry's: Craft Beer, Live Music, Good Food

If you're in the mood for live music, trying a new winter ale or a biting into a big burger, Poor Henry's Restaurant on Main Road / Route 202 in Montville Township could have your fix.

Consider: guitarist Barry McArdle is scheduled to play at 8:30 p.m. on Friday at at the pub, which typically has live music Thursdays and through the weekend (Though dinner on New Year's Eve is supposed to be quiet if you're looking for a low-key outing.)

And the kid-friendly Irish eatery serves a variety of dishes including prime rib, salmon, flounder, pasta, steaks, and "big juicy burgers," according to its Facebook page.

The restaurant, with its shamrock decorations, Irish flag and digital clock countdown to Saint Patrick's Day, is this week's pick for Bites Nearby.

— The restaurant was established in a century-old building in 1975 after a move from East Hanover. Owned by Ken Garrity, it's open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m., and on Sunday from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Starters include stuffed mushrooms, wings and steamers. It also has a salad bar ($7.95) and a variety of burgers and sandwiches ($8 to $9). Entrees include prime rib ($20.95), broiled pork chops ($13.95) and Cajun salmon ($15.25).
