Lake Valhalla Actress Premieres in Film With Christopher Lloyd

Angeline-Rose Troy plays Allison Parkes in the psychological thriller 'In/Sight,' opening Sept. 2 at AMC Times Square.

  • Name: Angeline-Rose Troy is an actress and producer. Named for both of her grandmothers, the 25-year-old performer with a hyphenated first name began her career when she was 18 months old. For her first performance, she starred in a tights commercial. Troy landed the role at her first audition. “The stockings didn’t fit,” Troy said. “They pooled at my ankles. But I liked it. So I continued from there.”

  • Independent Film: On Sept. 2, Troy will premiere in her first major film. “‘In/Sight’ is a really exciting film,” said Troy of the upcoming movie. “Some people feel it’s more psychological in nature, some people feel it’s more supernatural.” The independent thriller from director and producer Richard Gabai will open in limited release at 25 area theatres. Troy plays Allison Parkes, the focal point of the film’s action.  The cast includes veteran actors Sean Patrick Flanery, Natalie Zea, Adam Baldwin, Veronica Cartwright, and Christopher Lloyd. For opening night, Troy will join the film’s cast and creative team at the nation’s highest-grossing movie theatre, the AMC Times Square.

  • Producer: Following production for "In/Sight," Troy produced the film "Ever Last." “It’s starting the festival circuit soon, very soon,” she said. “We’re in post production right now.” For "Ever Last," Troy not only produced, but she also starred and is listed as the film’s costume designer. “Producing is crazy stressful. I had no idea when I got into it,” explained Troy. “You are basically everyone to everyone. People come up to you with a million questions and you have to know the answers. You are perpetually on the phone.” Troy found it intense to act, learn lines, and produce simultaneously. “I think we made a really great film,” she added.

  • Acting: Currently, Troy is filming the movie "Desert Games" in California. She also recently tested for a pilot for a 3D Television Channel. “We’ll see what comes from that,” she said. “I mean, hey, I can really be in your living room next time.”

  • Memorable Moment: For "In/Sight," Troy’s make-up included many prosthetics designed to replicate stab wounds. “I looked in the mirror (and) I was totally freaked out,” she said. The scene was filmed in a real hospital and her mom happened to be on the set that day. While a nurse and Troy’s mom were chatting, Troy came around the corner in make-up. The two took one look at her and jumped into action, asking if she was alright, and preparing to administer first aid.  “It’s a lot of fun,” said Troy. (The In/Sight trailer is on YouTube. Some viewers might find it disturbing.)

  • Family: Troy’s dad, Spencer, is an investment banker. Her mom, Elaine, is in advertising. “My parents have been so incredibly supportive,” she added. “I wouldn’t be anywhere without them.”

  • Part of Town: For most of her life, the Lake Valhalla area of Montville Township has been Troy’s home base. Despite career obligations that moved the family from New York to Montville, California to Montville, Tennessee to Montville, and Florida to Montville, Troy’s parents have juggled their own careers to support her passion. “My mom homeschooled me, for the majority of my life, so I was able to pursue this,” explained Troy. “(She) ferried me back and forth to New York; to California.” Still, Troy calls Montville home. “I try to be here as much as possible,” she said. “It is my friends. It is my family. It really is my home.”

  • Education: The lifelong performer graduated summa cum laude in 2010 from Fairleigh Dickinson University College at Florham with a bachelor's degree and concentration in theater. In addition to college, Troy has also studied with a variety of acting coaches. This past year she studied at the famed HB Studios in New York City. “There is a really great support system out there for actors these days,” said Troy.

  • Career: “This is my life,” explained Troy. “This is definitely a career that you are thinking about when you wake up in the morning. And you are e-mailing as you go to sleep at night. And you’re looking through the trade papers to find out what the next projects are, so you can submit yourself, or get your agent to submit yourself. It really is a 24-hour job.” The actress started as a child in print and commercials and has worked her way into TV and film. Now she is producing and starring. “It’s kind of been a progression.”

  • Favorite Thing About Montville: “I love the community of it,” Troy said of Montville. “I’ve made friends here that have lasted a lifetime. You make a lot of friends in Montville, and you keep them with you throughout your life.”

  • Something You Would Change: “I do wish that when I was a kid there was more to do,” said Troy. “It seems as though people are really making strides to give kids more to do and create more of a community.” She hopes Montville will continue to address the needs of kids, and provide activities and opportunities in the community.

  • Hobbies: “I actually started cooking last year,” Troy said. “Which is something my family was terrified about.” While she is not certain her family is happy with her new hobby, she enjoys making dishes for them. Troy also is a frequent visitor to the driving range, finding it to be a great way to relieve stress. “I love hiking,” she added. “And Montville is the perfect place for that. We have all these great trails. Just the nature and the beauty of it all is really something serene and wonderful.”

  • Philosophy: “‘No regrets.’ But not ‘no regrets’ to the point of ‘try anything once.’ Live your life for yourself and make the choices that you feel your grandparents would be proud of.”
