Dinner for the Family in Montville

A breakdown of ways to get out together this weekend.

Sure, it is supposed to rain all week, but that doesn't mean you and yours can't get out of the house together. Here's a quick list of five different things the area has to offer families this weekend. As always, email me at nathana@patch.com with your ideas.

  • Stories and Crafts for 3- to 6-Year Olds
    Where/When:
     At the  on Thursday, March 10 at 1 p.m.

    Why Go:
     Because children ages 3 through 6 can enjoy a story and make a take-home craft.

    Pricing:
     Free, but registration is necessary by visiting the library or calling 973-838-3262

  • Where/When: 
    At the  main branch from 4:15 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 10.
    Why Go: Children in the first grade or higher can bring photos and other objects to create scrapbooks. The library will provide paper and decorations.

    Pricing:
     Free
  •  at Pyramid Mountain
    Where/When:
     From 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 10 at the , which runs through Kinnelon, Boonton, and Montville.

    Why Go:
     If your family has a precocious gardener in it, age 12 or older, then this event should be fun. How to store, collect, and plant native seeds will be discussed.

    Pricing:
     $5, pre-registration at 973-334-3130 required

  • Where/When: From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the  on Saturday, March 12.

    Why Go:
     Because there will be home-baked spiral ham, corn, bread, scalloped potatoes, a salad bar, a dessert bar, and a drink included with the price of admission. Takeout will be available.

    Pricing:
     $9 for adults and $5 for children younger than 10
  • Story and Craft at County Library
    Where/When:
     At the Morris County Library in Whippany from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 12.

    Why Go:
     Because children ages 3 and older and their parents can have fun with a story and a related craft in the children’s room of the library.
