Best Black Friday Deals in Montville

Local deals may entice shoppers away from the malls and into neighborhood stores this season.

As the stuffing begins to settle in the bellies of Thanksgiving diners across the country, some will already have their eyes on the newest and hottest holiday gifts as they head to the malls on Black Friday.

Others will ditch the chaos and packed parking lots to shop local.

Black Friday, the day when the Christmas shopping season officially begins, means something to not only big-box retailers, but small businesses as well. In Montville, business owners are proving it by offering specials and deals on only Friday to kick off the holiday season.

The holidays are not only a time to buy gifts for people, but to purchase presents for pets as well. Metro Pet Supply Owner Frank Cooney said his store is offering many Black Friday specials that cater to all animals.

Even before Black Friday, Cooney began featuring a deal on deer feed.

"Buy five, 50-pound bags of deer feed and get one free," he said.

Additionally, the store will be running a deal Friday where all purchases will be discounted by 10 percent (including pet food) and all dog and cat toys will be discounted by 30 percent on Friday only.
