Thursday: Concert Series Comes 'Full Circle'

Full Circle to perform the last summer concert of 2011 on Thursday.

Montville's free summer concert series will come "Full Circle" on Thursday when a five-member band based in Morris County takes the stage.

Even though the members of the band Full Circle have long careers in music, that isn’t stopping them from getting excited to play.

“We’ve never played the summer concert series, so when I went to the amphitheater a few weeks ago to see the venue, I got very excited,” Paul said.  “It’s beautiful—the stage looks like so much fun to play on.”

Thursday's show is the last of the Summer Concerts in the Park for the season.

Not only does the venue excite the group’s leader, but who he’ll be playing with does, as well.

“It’s a blast to be able to play with my brother (Frank),” Paul said.  “I’ve been lucky because I have two brothers that are drummers, and I’ve played in bands with both of them.”

Full Circle features: Paul, keyboard and vocals; Frank, drummer and vocals; Kerry Lynn, vocals and acoustic guitar; Ernie, bass and vocals; and David, guitar, vocals, and harmonics.

“Our band has played concerts in Montville in the past,” Paul said.  “We have been playing the First Aid Squad Dinner Dance, the Installation Dinner, the past two Januarys, which we hope to play again.”

Not only does the group play dinner dances, but they also play holiday parties, car shows, and municipal concerts.

“The Full Circle has played a lot of concerts in Boonton like the Boonton Classic Car Show and the town’s Labor Day Fair,” Paul said.

The band has been together for the past 7½ years, but some of the members have previously been in groups together.

“I was in a band with Kerry Lynn before we formed the Full Circle,” Paul said.  “My brother, Frank, and Ernie were in a band together, too.  We’ve all been playing in bands since the 1970s.”

With each member's long track record in music, the band has a varied catalog of music they can play, and that’s how they like it.

“The music we play is stuff that we grew up with, but we want the band to be as versatile as possible,” Paul said.

This versatility leads to constantly changing venues from weddings to clubs.  Full Circle likes to tailor their set to the venue, which prevents them from being pigeon-holed to any specific genre of music.  The group will be playing a variety of classic rock, as well as modern songs.

Full Circle will be playing on Thursday from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Community Park Amphitheater. Parking is available behind the high school and library.
